I LOVE to read. If you’re anything like me, it’s an escape from reality. I love a good book that sucks you in so hard and fast that when you finally put it down it takes a few minutes to come back to current life.

I have a goal to read a book a month this year, so at least 12 books. I’d love to read more, in fact, I’m well on my way, but as we all know, life happens and sometimes the little pleasures are swept to the side.

So far this year I have read six books, working on number seven, which is right on target for 12 books this year! It’s been a year of romance novels in my queue, and I don’t see that slowing down. In fact, I kind of like the idea of having a theme/specific topic for the books I plan to read in a year.

I would HIGHLY recommend these books to any reader because I want those around me to love the same things I love. Call it a flaw if you must, but I love a good book conversation so it’s nice to have other book worms to talk to!

1. Bridgerton #1: The Duke and I – Julia Quinn

If you watched the Netflix series, do yourself a favor and read the book. If possible, it has more love and passion in the book. When you have to “Hollywood-fy” a book, sometimes it can lose a little luster. I plan to read the rest of the series this year!

2. 50 Shades of Grey – EL James

This is a re-read for me. I read this trilogy years ago in college. I had hit a little bit of a reading slump, saw these are 2nd and Charles Bookstore, and dove in again. These are definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking for something spicy…look no further!

3. 50 Shades Darker – EL James
Keep the trilogy going! Once I start a book series I HAVE to read them all. And as stated in the title, sooooo much darker. Again, SPICY!

5. Grey – EL James

After people BEGGED for years for EL James to write from Christian Grey’s perspective everything that happened in the original trilogy, she delivered with ANOTHER trilogy. It does. not. disappoint. All the times in 50 Shades when I thought, “But how does he feel about that?!” MY QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!

7. Freed – EL James
Current read and the longest of the Grey/Darker/Freed trilogy. There is a lot of detail here that is skipped out on in 50 Shades Freed so it’s a nice refresher. I even find myself giggling while reading this book. So far I’m giving it 5/5 stars.
